I always see this time of year as a time of joy, and yet this year it doesn’t feel like it. More than one friend is currently experiencing heartbreaking circumstances. The world feels crazy to me. I keep telling myself to stop listening to NPR, which really is just story after story of wars that are ripping our world apart. I feel like I am in a sea of sadness compounded by my own personal woes as a “starving artist”.
I am wondering where the empowerment is within this situation? How do we help the world around us with limited resources? What role do I/we play in the bigger scheme of things, particularly as Americans who are protected in many ways from the tragedy of our world? Particularly what role do I play as an artist?
How do I manifest my art in a specific and purposeful way to ease the hurt around us?
Is there an answer here?
I send out to the world recognition of your hurt. I carry that with me into my artistic process. I breathe joy into your world. I believe in tomorrow being full of the best possibilities. I send the world my love.
