The success of last weekend’s bowl-a-thon was in no small part influenced by our littlest artistic associates, who provided the bowlers with some much-needed morale.

The CIC 2008 Bowl-a-Thon was a big success, thanks to the fund raising work of participating company members and the generous donations of their families and friends. Totals are still being finalized, but CIC raised over $3,000, which will go directly into the theater. Thanks to everyone who donated and participated, and special thanks to the lovely folks at Timber Lanes for hosting the event.
The highest overall fund-raiser was Tony Lawry, who showed up to bowl with a wrist guard and his very own ball-wiping towel. If there’s an official term for a ball-wiping towel, I don’t want to know. The point is, dude is serious about bowling, and raising money for a most excellent cause. Congratulations, Tony! Enjoy the win, because next year, the ladies are taking it back.

CIC has acquired an air conditioner, which means our summer shows will be nice and cool. Of course we still need to rewire the theater and install the thing, so if you haven’t had the chance to pledge to one of our Bowl-a-Thon participants, now’s a good time! Remember, every donation is tax deductible.

It’s officially April, the official month of the OFFICIAL Chemically Imbalanced Comedy Super-Fun Bowl-A-Thon Extravaganza 2008: SUPERFUN!
I just made that title up.
But we are having a Bowl-A-Thon, and it is happening on Sunday, April 27th. We’re raising money for an air conditioning system, to ensure a comfortable summer of cool comedy at the Chemically Imbalanced Theater. CIC is a not-for-profit theater, which means that all donations are tax-deductable. And hey, won’t you feel good about yourself, supporting the arts in a tangible way?
You can make a flat donation, or sponsor a bowler at a per-pin level (a nickel, a quarter, a buck a pin). You can even challenge us to do wacky stunts for pledges. How about a dollar per beer imbibed? A quarter for every time we do a little dance when we bowl? Ten bucks per frame if we bowl in formal attire? Use your imagination. Photographic and/or video evidence can be provided.
There is an element of competition to the Bowl-a-Thon, as CIC associates have been pitted against each other in the race for pledges. Mr. Tony Lawry is currently bowling over the competition, but artistic associate Lina Bunte is hot on his tail! And there are still twenty-five days of pledge-driving and smack-talking to go. Of course it’s not all about competition. It’s about supporting awesome comedy and the arts in Chicago. But if last year’s spectacle of Dave Whalley in a pink lace bra can be repeated in the process? All the sweeter.
